TN RTE Admission:- From April 20, parents in Tamil Nadu can fill online application for admission to private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
As per the admission schedule issued by the Directorate of Private Schools, the last date for submitting applications is May 18.
It can be done by applying in writing at rte.tnschools.gov.in. Details of accepted and rejected applications will be posted on the website on May 21.
If schools receive more applications than seats, a lottery will be held on May 23. The shortlist will be announced on May 24 . Students must register by May 29th.

Objective Of TN RTE Admission
The main objective of TN RTE Admission is to provide free and compulsory education to all children. With the help of this scheme students belonging to economically weaker sections and disadvantaged groups will be able to get free education till they attain the age of 14 years.
Tamil Nadu RTE admission scheme will also increase the literacy rate of the state. Other than that employment will also be generated with the proper implementation of this scheme as more students will be able to get an education.
Disabled children, wards of sanitary workers and HIV-infected will also be given preference through this scheme which will improve their standard of living.
Required Documents to Apply
- Photograph of applicant (150 px * 175 px)
- Birth certificate
- Aadhar card or ration card of the parent or guardian
- Income certificate for weaker section candidates
- Community certificate for disadvantaged group candidates

- The applicant should be a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu
- All the parents falling in the category of financially weak, disadvantaged group, special group without group children can apply under this scheme
- Preferences will be given to disabled children, waste management centers and HIV positive
- The annual income of the family cannot exceed Rs 2 lakh
- The date of birth of the child must be between 31st July 2017 and 31st July 2018 for admission to LKG
- The child’s date of birth must be between 31st July 2015 and 31st July 2016 to be eligible for the first grade
- BC-Other, MBC, ST, SC-Other, SC-Arunthathiyar, OC, DNC (Denotified communities), social studies applicants whose social studies are not specified are eligible to apply

- The TN RTE Admission Scheme has been launched by the Tamil Nadu government to provide free and compulsory education.
- Through this program, free and compulsory education is provided to every child up to their 14th birthday
