One of the pre-election promises made by the Congress party was Karnataka ಅನ್ನಭಾಗ್ಯ ಯೋಜನೆ, which they promised to implement again and again if elected to work in Karnataka.

Now that the Congress is all set to win elections in Karnataka and become the government, it has to fulfill its promise to implement policy there. Once implemented, the scheme will be integrated into major social programs in the state of Karnataka.

According to the party, anyone who gets the current Anna Bhagya scheme of 5 kg of rice will now get 10 kg of free rice.

This follows his promise of 200 free electricity units a month under the Gruha Jyoti Yojana and Rs 2,000 a month for housewives under the Gruhalakshmi scheme if he wins the next state election.

From Monday evening, low-income families across Karnataka will start receiving money directly into their accounts instead of 5 kg of rice under the state’s Anna Bhagya Yojana. Food and Public Supplies Minister KH Muniyappa said each beneficiary would receive the money within 15 days.

Everyone in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) account will get a credit of Rs 170 per month, at the Food Corporation of India’s standard rate of Rs 34 per kg of rice Under the scheme, Congress had promised 10 kg of rice will provide BPL free families every month — 5 kg each from Center and state
