Education is one of the worst affected departments and is providing free tablets to about 9.5 lakh students studying in schools in West Bengal to help students attend online classes. Under this scheme,

students currently studying in class 12 in government schools in West Bengal will get a free tablet to continue their education online.

Students studying in government-aided schools and madrasas will also get free tablets. They also offer to provide computers to every secondary school to enable online learning.

Objective Of West Bengal Free Tablet Scheme 2023

The main objective of the program is to provide online education to all students who cannot access it due to poverty. The Chief Minister of West Bengal will also provide many other benefits to the residents of this region.

In view of the upcoming Assembly elections, the government is planning to unveil the expansion plans of some of the biggest IT companies in West Bengal.

The government also made 20 proposals to set up IT hubs in the heart of Bengal Silicon Valley. 3,000 crore will be invested to provide ICT facilities to the people of West Bengal.

Benefits Of West Bengal Free Tablet Scheme 2023

• There are many benefits that will provide to the people under this scheme launched by the Chief Minister of West Bengal. In this scheme, around 9.5 lakh students will be getting free tablets.
• 36000 Government and Government Aided secondary schools will be provided to the facility.
• 14000 higher secondary schools and more than 600 madrasas will be provided with the benefit of this scheme.
• The tabs will be provided to the students for a lifetime and the students will be able to get education till their graduation through these facilities.
• The Chief Minister is also providing other benefits including a difference dearness allowance for State Government employees from the upcoming month

• Information technology (IT) companies in West Bengal have grown by 133% in the last eight years
• IT outsourcing has increased by 175%.
• On December 1, the state government approved 20 proposals aimed at setting up IT hubs in Bengal’s Silicon Valley hub with a proposed investment of Rs 3,000 crore.
• These will directly employ 9,000 IT professionals
• Currently, over 1,500 IT companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant and IBM have offices in West Bengal
• There are about 2.1 million IT professionals in the country.
• Bharti Airtel’s Extra Data has come up with a Rs 350 crore offer, while Wipro has a Rs 500 crore expansion plan in the country.
• Tata Consultancy Services is expected to increase employment to around 61,000 from the current 44,000.
• Cognizant Technology Solutions is also expected to expand further
• ITC Infotech has almost completed its operations in New Town and will employ about 3000 IT professionals there.
• IT giant Infosys will start construction of its proposed software development center in the country by July 2021.
• Infosys has been allocated 50 acres of land.

• The applicant should be a resident of West Bengal
• The applicant should be studying in Government School or Government Aided School or Madrashe
• The applicant must be studying in 12th standard
• The annual income of the petitioner from all sources cannot exceed Rs.200000 per annum
• The applicant must be selected in all previous examinations
