WB Kharif Paddy:- The concerned organizations of the Government of West Bengal have introduced a new scheme for the benefit of all the farmers.

The government will provide free paddy to about 10 lakh people in West Bengal by June 2021. In this article, we will share details of West Bengal Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme with you all.

Around 13 lakh farmers have been enrolled by the concerned agency under the West Bengal Kharif Paddy Purchase Scheme. About 7200,000 rice farmers are supposed to be enrolled in the scheme.

Officials concerned also said they plan to reach out to more farmers under this scheme. The government will also procure about 45 quintals of paddy from each farmer.

The authorities concerned are yet to fix the price of rice. Under this scheme, rice will be supplied to PDS without interruption. The program will be launched in December.

The main objective to be achieved through this scheme is to help the farmers of West Bengal. The low demand for rice has hit all the farmers hard and the price of rice is also falling during this period.

The government has also announced the minimum support prices but prices seem to be falling below the official MSP.

The West Bengal government has also set a price for the quantity of paddy to be procured from each farmer. This will definitely help farmers and generate good income in the long run. More farmers will sign up under the scheme and get the minimum price.

WB Kharif Paddy Procurement Scheme Benefits

The main beneficiaries of this scheme will be the farmers who will get the fixed prices of rice and paddy. The concerned authorities of the West Bengal government will get about 45 quintals of paddy from each farmer for long-term support.

The price shall also be given in accordance with the ceiling prices to be fixed by the Government of West Bengal.

In FY 2019, the bulk purchase of paddy per farmer increased to 90 quintals at an MSP of Rs. 1,868 per quintal.
