The Telangana government has launched the Telangana Dalit Bandhu Scheme. Essentially, it is a welfare scheme to empower Dalit families to create jobs among them. With this scenario, the government is going to take an amount of Rs 10 lakh per family.

This initiative could be the largest cash transfer program in the country. The chief minister held a meeting with Dalit representatives and elected leaders to discuss the plan.

At this meeting, it was decided to select 100 families each from 119 assembly constituencies in the state under the scheme.

Families will get Rs 10 lakh financial assistance to start their businesses without any bank guarantee.

The government has allocated a budget of Rs 1,200 crore for this scheme. The scheme will be piloted in Huzurabad assembly constituency.

Based on the experience gained in implementing this scheme in Huzurabad, this scheme will be rolled out in the state in a phased manner.
