The main objective of the Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme is to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers by drilling borewells or digging open Wells followed by the installation of pump sets and accessories.

Benefits And Features Of Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme
- The Karnataka Minority Development Corporation launched the Karnataka Ganga Welfare Scheme.
- Under this scheme, the beneficiaries will get access to irrigation on agricultural land by drilling wells or open wells followed by installation of pump sets and accessories.
- The government has allocated Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 3 lakh respectively for the private borewell project.
- This amount will be Rs 50000 for bore well drilling, pump supply and electrification deposit.
- A grant of Rs 3.5 lakh will be given in Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Ramnagar Kolar, Chikkaballapur and Tumkur districts.
- Besides, a grant of Rs 2 lakh will be given to other districts.
- These facilities will be provided by laying pipelines and installing pumping equipment and accessories on lands owned by farmers in nearby rivers.
- The unit cost has been fixed at Rs 4 lakh for 8 acre land and Rs 6 lakh for 15 acre land.
- All costs under the plan are treated as subsidy.
- The government is going to provide adequate water to farmers by using sustainable sources or providing piped water.
- Only those farmers who are from small communities and are small or marginal farmers can avail of this scheme.
- In the absence of permanent sources of water, the Company will provide loans to individuals for the construction of boreholes in water areas.
