The BCCI Test Cricket Incentive Scheme for Senior Men was launched to give the prestigious players stability and financial progress.

On top of the current match price for Test matches, which is set at INR 15 lakhs, the Test Cricket Incentive Scheme will function as an extra reward system.

Various BCCI Test Cricket Incentive Scheme slabs

  • Players playing less than 50 percent matches: Players who participate in less than 50% of the Tests over a season are placed in the first slab. In that scenario, their only income would be the match fees.
  • Players participating in more than 50% but less than 75% matches: A player is eligible to get an incentive payment of Rs 30 Lakhs per match if he plays in more than 50% but fewer than 75% of the Test matches during a season. As a result, the player’s match fees would ultimately total Rs 45 Lakh.
  • Players participating in more than 75% of matches: This is the most profitable bracket; a player who participates in more than 75% of the Test matches during a season gets awarded Rs 45 Lakh, meaning that his match fees come to Rs 60 Lakh. A player would earn Rs 6 crore in such a scenario, which is equivalent to a mid-range IPL contract if he played 10 Tests in a year.

BCCI Test Cricket Incentive Scheme 2024

Once India emerged victorious from the five-match series 4-1 against England, BCCI secretary Jay Shah introduced a new program called the BCCI Test Cricket Incentive Scheme.

With incentives beyond match money, this program seeks to incentivize players who commit to playing red-ball cricket for their country.

Cricket players who participate in 75% or more of the planned Test matches will be eligible for an additional reward worth 45 lakh rupees per match under the Test Cricket Incentive Scheme.

Likewise, a non-playing member would earn Rs 22.5 Lakh, or an eventual 30 Lakh rupees per match, if they was in the team for more than 75% of the Test matches that were played throughout the season.

In addition to the standard Test-match pay of 15 lakh rupees per match, Test regulars like captain Rohit Sharma,  Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and R Ashwin stand to earn an additional 3.15 crore rupees if they play at least 7 Tests in a year when India plays 9.
