Amma Two Wheeler Scheme:– To improve the lives of women in Tamil Nadu, the Government of Tamil Nadu has introduced Amma Two Wheeler Scheme for the development of women in their state.

Today in this article we will share with you all the details about Amma Bicycle Scheme which was launched in 2018 and will provide bicycles to all women in Tamil Nadu.

Amma Two Wheeler Scheme will empower working women in Tamil Nadu. In addition, they can purchase two-wheelers suitable for women for transportation to jobs, places of work, communication etc. T

he main motivation for using the scheme is to have access to vehicles such as scooters or bicycles as per their preferences if they can get there women can get there so go inside. Also available are special retro-fitted three-wheeled scooters for disabled women .

Benefits Of Amma Two Wheeler Scheme

As the concerned authorities have said through the implementation of the Amma Sakraman Scheme, 100,000 working women will benefit through this scheme every year.

Also special benefits are a maximum subsidy of 50% of the cost of the two-wheeler, or Rs.25,000/-, whichever is less, to the beneficiaries. Moreover, by implementing this scheme, all women living in Tamil Nadu will be given autonomy.

All of the women will no longer have a fear of taking a means of public transport in late-night, they will rather come home with their own transport.

Specifications Of The Vehicle

• Maximum engine displacement should be 125cc
• The vehicle must be eligible for registration under the 1988 Motor Vehicles Act.
• The vehicle had to be manufactured after 01.01.2018 and comply with the latest 2 emission standards.
• The details of all the vehicles provided under this scheme, will be collated/collected by the Project Director (PD), Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission (TNSRLM) of the concerned district.
• The details shall also be forwarded to the Department of Transport where no change in ownership records for sale or further consideration will be allowed without prior approval of PD, TNSRLM for 3 years.

Amma Two Wheeler Scheme Eligibility Criteria

• Individual women’s work can be done collectively or as a group for livelihood activities/paid work.
• The applicant must travel long distances.
• A woman’s income should be the main source of income for the family.
• The following women are also eligible:
• Enrollment of women as workers in organized and unorganized sectors.
• Women are employed in shops and establishments.
• Self-employed who engage in small businesses or other activities.

• Government Aided Organisations
• Private Institutions
• Government Projects
• Community-Based Organizations – Panchayats Level Federations(PLF) Village Poverty Reduction Committees (VPRCs), Mavatta Makkal Kattral Maiyam (Makamai), who are either on consolidated salary or daily wages or on contract employment.
• Banking correspondents/Banking Facilitators and ASHA workers.
• The applicant should be a native of Tamil Nadu and residing in Tamil Nadu.
• Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years of age.
• Applicant must know how to drive.
• The applicant must have a valid binary / learner license registration (LLR) at the time of application.
• The annual income of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2,50,000/-.
• Only one woman is eligible for 3 benefits in a family
• The applicant should have appeared in the Class VIII examination (passed/failed).
• Priority will be given to the following-
• Working women residing in remote places
• Hilly regions
• Women-headed households
• Deserted women
• Destitute widows
• Differently-abled women
• Unmarried women aged above 35 years

Features of Amma Two Wheeler Scheme

• This program is being launched to empower the working woman
• Grants under this scheme shall be awarded to the qualified applicant
• An applicant can purchase any two-wheeler of their choice up to the engine capacity of 125cc
• The beneficiaries will be selected by the officers of the nominating committee. Commissioner for Chennai city and District Collector for other districts
• The applicant can borrow from bank/non-bank financial institution. In such a case, after verification by the selection committee, the application will be forwarded to the bank or financial institution of the applicant’s choice.
• If the applicant wishes to purchase the vehicle from his/her own funds, the allocated funds will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account upon providing proof of purchase

• EPIC card
• Driving License
• Aadhar Card
• Utility Bills etc., in the Applicant’s name
• Driving License / Learner License Registration (LLR) issued by the competent authority
• Income Certificate issued by Employer / Self Certification
• Proof of Employment issued by the Employer/Organization/Project Head/Society in case of Wage / Salaried employment.
• Aadhaar card.
• Proof of Educational Qualification / Appearance for VIII standard exam (Transfer Certificate, SSLC, etc.,)
• Passport size photograph
• Proof to establish membership of priority category, wherever applicable
• Community Certificate (in case of SC/ST category)
• Differently Abled Identity Card issued by the competent authority
• Quotation/Pro-forma invoice of the vehicle.

• Under Amma’s two-wheeler scheme, the car will be brand new
• The maximum engine capacity of the vehicle provided to the beneficiary under this scheme is 125 cc
• The vehicle will be anything without gears or a bike with an auto gear motor chosen by the applicant
• The scooty must be manufactured on or after January 1, 2018

Application Procedure Under Amma Two Wheeler Scheme

• The application form will be issued free of charge to the applicant at all Block Offices, Municipal Local Body Offices and Collectorates.
• You can also download the application forms from the link provided above.
• No application fee should be charged to the applicant in connection with the form.
• The application form is filled up and submitted to the concerned Block Offices / Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
• Completed application forms can be submitted in person or by registered/ speed post.
• Each application will be assigned a unique application number consisting of the ULB/RLB code followed by the serial number running in the ULB/RLB.
